The whole family will love the heart-warming hilarity of Charlie Chaplin in his silent-film masterpiece’s A Dog’s Life (1918) and The Kid (1921). Both films will be present with live piano and percussion accompaniment by talented musicians Jeremy Fitzsimons and David Selfe who will improvise the soundtrack to these classic comedies.

A Dog’s Life is where Chaplin (The Tramp) plays opposite his animal co-star ‘Scraps’, the hero in the film. The hilarity of the gags will have you laughing the whole time.

The Kid was a huge success in 1921, considered one of the greatest films of the silent error with a perfect blend of comedy and drama from the greatest theatrical artist in the world.

Jeremy Fitzsimons was a founding member and director of the percussion group Strike from 1993-2003 and had toured for Chamber Music New Zealand. He is currently Principal Percussionist with the Vector Wellington Orchestra, casual with NZSO and pursuing various chamber and solo projects.

David Selfe is a pianist, composer, musical director and producer who runs a concert venue and recording studio in a former dairy factory in Norsewood.

REVIEW FROM OUTDOOR DAIRY FACTORY SCREENING in 2021 “I couldn’t believe there were only two musicians, he thought there were at least five until he peered around the tree and looked!” Matt, Espresso Loco
