Pleiades: A Woven Narrative

An interpretation of Greek mythology, with a contemporary twist, through the ancient art form of tapestry.

Patricia Armour is a professional tapestry artist who lives in Wellington; she has been weaving tapestries for over 30 years. In 2008, she created Dance of Pleiades, a tapestry based on the constellation of The Pleiades. Since then, Patricia has developed a further series of work based loosely on the origin story of the Pleiades constellation, with a few deviations along the way.

In this exhibition, you will find hints of experimentation, Greek mythology, the influence of the Pre-Raphaelites, and Patricia’s love of weaving.
