Actor/comedian Mark Hadlow will be the narrator in two much-loved children’s stories set to music. The first, The Emperor and the Nightingale is by Kiwi composer, Jenny McLeod. It is followed by The Story of Babar, with music composed by Francis Poulenc. A. A. Milne (of Winnie the Pooh fame) said of Babar, ‘If you love elephants you will love Babar and Celeste. If you have never loved elephants you will love them now.’ The story is delightful, but the music equally so. It is beautifully judged for young audiences and, with its parody of French café music and the like, parents and grandparents will also be thoroughly entertained. The concert will have an interactive element with the children in the audience joining Hadlow in a rendition of ‘Elephants have Wrinkles’.

Hadlow fronted successful children’s concerts with Opus Orchestra a couple of years ago and says he is delighted to be returning for this very special programme.

Tickets available online and at the door. Tickets range from $10 (child) to $50 (family ticket).
This concert will also be Sign Language Interpreted.
