Volunteer Service Abroad is proud to announce the first of a new series of events called “Ngā reo o VSA – Voices of VSA”. Events will be hosted in major cities throughout New Zealand and each will be a discussion of a specific topic or location within countries VSA operates out of, with speakers ranging from VSA volunteers and staff located abroad to local or international communities and government representatives.

Our first event will cover The Kingdom of Tonga, particularly their "Journey to Recovery" after the eruption of Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'api on January 15th 2022. Doors will open to guests at 5.00pm, with speakers running from 5.30pm - 7pm and a small Q&A at the end. This will be a free event although there will be facilities to receive donations if you would like to contribute to our Tonga Appeal to assist in the recovery and wellbeing of the communities we work with.

The speakers for the evening will be:
Rolf Huber – Rolf volunteered with VSA as a Business Mentor in Tonga as both an in-country and e-volunteer from 2019-2020.
Mai e Nima – Tavake Fangupo and the team from Mai e Nima have prepared a video presentation on their work, bringing healthy eating and lifestyles to the children of Tonga.
Sabine Huber – Sabine joined Rolf in Tonga from 2019-2020, taking on a volunteer role with VSA as an Early Childhood Training Facilitator shortly after arriving.
Professor Palatasa Havea – Professor Havea is the Dean Pacific of Pacific Student Success at Massey University Palmerston North. He comes from an extensive background of food technology and will be speaking on the future of food security in the Kingdom of Tonga

VSA is New Zealand's largest and most experienced volunteer agency, connecting people across the moana between New Zealand and other countries in the Pacific Region. Volunteers live abroad or connect remotely from their homes in Aotearoa to share experience, knowledge and cultures. Working with business, government and organisations located abroad, we collectively transform lives of many, provide greater cultural understanding, and create a fair future for all.

If you would like to receive information about future Ngā reo o VSA - Voices of VSA events or have any questions regarding the event please email info@vsa.org.nz or call 04 471 8690
