Nga Hoa Pākehā Art Exhibition
We are living in a topsy turvy world. In Aotearoa New Zealand, we have locus,
a place to stand, in the reo of the land, ‘tūrangawaewae’. The challenge as the poet
Alan Curnow put it is not only to stand, but to stand upright.
“Not I, some child born in a marvelous year,
Will learn the trick of standing upright here”
A more recent poet of our land Glenn Colquhoun substituted ‘trick’ with ‘art’.
“The art of standing up right here”. And ‘art’ is where we meet culturally and spiritually.
Asking you to engage with art, for good purpose, is what this invite is about.
You are invited to attend the opening of Nga Hoa Pākehā
23rd November, from 5.30 - 7.30pm
at Ahuriri Contemporary, 6a Hastings Street, Napier.
The Nga Hoa Pākehā exhibition runs until 3rd December.
All works are on sale, with profits directed to Stage Two, Waiōhiki Marae Complex; an
effort to create a successful and sustainable 21st Century kāinga, founded on Māori
values but inclusive of any New Zealander who wants to participate and contribute.

Jono Rotman, Deborah Smith, Connan Mockasin, Richard Brimer, Hugh Tareha,
