Morning People presents Ōtautahi’s own Sambora!
Morning People Ōtautahi is turning two, and to celebrate Christchurch native Sambora is returning to his home town for an epic morning rave at Hide.
Sambora’s influences are wide and varied - starting life in a classical-music-only household, he cut his teeth grinding out metal riffs at dive bars while studying at jazz school. Captured by the magic of the late-90s Ōtautahi jungle and rave scene he went on to form the legendary Shapeshifter, whose music has defined a generation and is now firmly ensconced in our national identity.
When asked what track she would open with if DJing a post-lockdown party, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardren replied “anything from Shapeshifter”. Nice!
Songwriter, producer, multi-instrumentalist and all-round lovely human, Sambora’s played clubs, arenas and festival main stages across the globe. His infectious personality and deep love of dance music shines in his DJ sets - covering the depth and breadth of electronic music.
One of Aotearoa’s brightest dance music stars, don’t miss Sambora laying it down for Morning People - his first Morning People set in Ōtautahi.
