Experience the thrill of the ‘greatest f*cking electric bass player’, according to Flea of Red Hot Chili Peppers. With “syrupy bass groove, light slapping drums, keyboard warbles and outlandish singing” (Rock the Body Electric), this is a night you won’t want to miss.
In his first visit back to New Zealand since performing at the 2019 Wellington Jazz Festival with Ghost-Note, GRAMMY Award-winning bassist and experimental musician MonoNeon will be performing his latest album Basquiat & Skittles with his band.
Well known for his presence on YouTube playing bass guitar, he was also one of the last people to work with Prince and has collaborated with the likes of Mac Miller, Ne-Yo, Nas and more.
MonoNeon is known for his unique playing style. While he is right-handed, he plays left-handed upside down on a right-handed bass guitar, which allows him to use heavy string bending on the upper strings. His playing style has been described as "funky with unusual characteristics".
In this performance at The Opera House, audiences will experience mind-blowing and groundbreaking music by the one and only MonoNeon.

Ko MonoNeon tēnei me tāna momo autaia, he momo rerekē, he momo kounga ā tau pai ki te taringa. He toa te tangata nei i whakawhiwhia ki te Grammy Award winning artist.
