How can we work together to create peace and unity between and within diverse communities? What are some practical steps to achieving such an ideal? What does a peaceful future look like?

Join us in 'Isolation Hotel' for a talk from Shubha Narayan, facilitated by Dr Hafsa Ahmed, on looking towards a future of peace and respectfulness.

This event is free but places are limited so please register on the Museum website if you're attending. Please note attendees need to comply with the Museum's public health conditions of entry.

This event will be staged so that we can safely meet the requirements of the COVID-19 Red Traffic Light Setting. Numbers are limited to meet physical distancing requirements. If we need to cancel the event for any reason, updates will be posted on the Museum website and emailed to anyone who has signed up.

About the Speakers

Shubha Narayan describes her passion and life as Montessori. Shubha arrived in New Zealand 23 years ago from Bengaluru, India. She is now the co-head of Nova Montessori School in New Brighton, Christchurch. She believes kindness and respect should be part of every child’s world.

Dr Hafsa Ahmed is a lecturer at Lincoln University with expertise in managing change, stakeholder engagement and project management. She has professional work experience of over 20 years in private, public and not-for-profit sectors in India and New Zealand. Hafsa seeks to make a meaningful impact in the world through service. She is the co-founder of Lady Khadija Trust working to achieve social cohesion in the community and is also a board member at Pregnancy, Infancy, and Parenting Support. She believes her approach to life is best captured through this quote: “The more I help out, the more successful I become. But I measure success in what it has done for the people around me. That is the real accolade.” (Adam Grant, 'Give and Take').

You can learn more about our speakers from the 'Immigrant Journeys' documentary on show in the gallery space.
