How does art translate to war or peace?
Amir Foladi met There Is No Other Home But This artist Khadim Ali in Bamyan, where Khadim had facilitated a children’s painting session immediately after the fall of Taliban.
Foladi and his team followed up with another session in 2009 when they felt there was a new era of hope for Bamyan children. Having worked with the Aga Khan Foundation in Bamyan, Foladi is now here in Aotearoa and works with Afghan refugees of war and conflict.
Join us as he talks about his work strengthening Bamyan arts and cultural traditions, the New Zealand connection there, the Bamyan Ecotourism New Zealand AID funded project and the state of current contemporary culture in Afghanistan.
The Monica Brewster Evenings (MBE) in association with Govett Quilliam – The Lawyers bring an impressive array of national and international artists and cultural thinkers to New Plymouth. For a different kind of night out, join us for talks, presentations and performances in a casual and intimate atmosphere.
