Hono mai mō Matariki! Matariki Ramaroa Kāpiti Lights Arts Festival is a celebration of te Tau Hou Māori – the Māori New Year for all of Kāpiti.
Matariki Ramaroa opens on June 24 – Aotearoa’s first Matariki Public Holiday at Maclean Park, Paraparaumu.
Join us on June 24 for a night of light sculptures, eclectic music, performances, food stalls and storytelling under the rising stars of Matariki.
Matariki Ramaroa is a place to come together in celebration, togetherness, reflection, feasting and fun with contemporary light sculptures adorning Kāpiti’s beautiful beachfront. Fun for the whole whānau to explore this magical mid-winter tradition.
Matariki Ramaroa continues with events across Kāpiti. The festival closes on July 17 in Ōtaki. Visit the Matariki Ramaroa website for more events.
