Matariki Celebration

Free entry to the southern enclosure.

Matariki is a special occasion on Aotearoa’s calendar. It marks the start of the Māori New Year and is a time for celebration and reflection. We'd like to extend a warm invitation to locals and volunteers to visit Te Tūī a Tāne southern enclosure on Saturday 25 June for FREE. Thank you for your support this year!

Just bring along proof of a Waikato address or active volunteering for any New Zealand organisation and you and your whanau can immerse yourself in the autumn forest. We’ll also have activities and crafts on the day and talks where you can learn more about what happens in this amazing conservation project. Did you know that kākāpō are joining us? Bring the kids to create gorgeous paper stars to light their way. There will also be delicious warming soup for sale.
