Love, Mess and Memories;
Words and Music in celebration of mums and mothering

With Lizzie Tollemache, Rachel Lenart and Rusty Frames
Celebrate your mum, your mothering and the mums in your life with Beesting Theatre this Mothers Day. Join us for an hour of words and songs at Snails with complimentary glass of bubbly or a fancy juice on arrival. Warm fuzzies, some laughter, some tears, some joy and some aches for our mums, the mums we love, and the mums we become.
Please note there may be a sprinkling of spicy language (but if you’re cool with Emily Writes, you’ll be safe with us!)
Strictly limited tickets, book now for your Mum and your grown-up kids
Recommended for Age 15+

Beesting Theatre is a new company and collaboration between established theatre makers Rachel Lenart (Theatre Militia, Constellations, Modern Girls in Bed) and Lizzie Tollemache (Rollicking Entertainment, Centrepoint Theatre). Beesting hovers in the moment of anticipation before release, the breath before the sting. Love, Mess and Memories will be our company soft launch, with original writing for our mums and our daughters.

Rachel Lenart:
Rachel Lenart is a freelance professional theatre director and has been making professional and semi- professional theatre since 2004 when she co-founded Queer indie Theatre Company; Theatre Militia. Rachel’s work has played at BATS, at Circa, Downstage, in Australia and in the streets of Wellington and Palmerston North. Rachel has twice been nominated for Director of the Year by the (formally Chapman Tripp) Wellington Theatre Awards. Rachel is also a critically acclaimed lighting designer, designing work for dance companies and productions around Palmy. Rachel delivers the teaching of Massey University’s theatre programme in Palmerston North, Rachel’s productions with Massey Students have received numerous local theatre awards, particularly for Ensemble, performance and design.
Rachel’s work has been described by reviewers as Sophisticated (Dominion post 2018), Elegant (Dominion post 2014, Lumiere 2011, Capital Times 2007), Exquisite (word on the street, 2014) and Astute (Theatreview, 2014, 2007, 2006, Lumiere 2008)
Rachel has an amazing mum and two wild daughters.

Lizzie Tollemache:
Lizzie is a sideshow stuntwoman, theatre maker, and the Creative Director of Rollicking Entertainment. After spending six years creating and touring original shows across 7 countries, she moved to Palmy to become the Associate Director of Centrepoint Theatre, where she directed, performed, taught and ran outreach programmes for two years before returning to life as an independent artist.
Lizzie is a passionate advocate for celebrating women and the arts. Her work is fun, feisty and honest with razor sharp observations that will have you laughing, cheering and pretending you didn’t just get a bit teary. The last few years of travel restrictions were a stonking big reminder of the importance of family, and she’s delighted to share some new work, in tribute to her mother, and the love that connects us.

Rusty Frames:
Dave Boyack is a musician, multi instrumentalist, composer and songwriter from Palmy North. Indie folk rock with bangin' melodies and rockin' refrains. Rusty Frames brings beauty and vulnerability from the mundanities of loving and living with richness, rawness and resolute authenticity. Sometimes comic, sometimes wrenching, with stories grounded in simplicity, honesty and a whole lot of love. Rusty Frames have played locally for the last two years, including a set with Julia Deans (Fur Patrol) in Te Papaeoia Festival of the Arts 2021, and are releasing an EP in 2022. Dave is also the Bassist for Waiterere rockers The Dunes. Dave loves his mum, Dave loves his daughter’s mum, Everyone's mums love Dave.
