‘Music Moves' Classes for 5-6 Year Olds

Weekly classes for children, 5 to 6 years old.

This weekly music class is progressive in that, each week, students will build on previous learning; deepening their understanding of music through numerous and varied musical experiences. Through interactive engagement in songs, rhymes, musical games and creative improvisation; listening, movement and social skills are continually refined and extended.

Classes are carefully planned and evaluated each week, and new material is sourced or written specifically for the presenting needs or interests of the children. Classes are underpinned by the active approach to music education known as Dalcroze Eurhythmics. The originator of this approach was the Swiss composer and pianist Émile Jaques-Dalcroze (1865-1950). The three strands of Dalcroze Eurhythmics- rhythmics, ear and voice and improvisation are woven within the one-hour-long weekly class.
