Kura Pounamu: Our Treasured Stone, is leaving our Museum. Join us to celebrate and say goodbye to this most beautiful exhibition before it leaves Otago.

The final day includes a talk on hei tiki from Te Papa’s curator and one of New Zealand's foremost experts, soap carving and flax weaving workshops, talk on traditional instruments, and getting up-close to pounamu and jade samples with Dr Simon Cox and Dr Nick Mortimer, principal scientists at ..0GNS Science. Dr Mortimer, AKA Dr Rock, will also be available to check your rocks, precious stones, and pounamu for inspection and identification.

If you have not had a chance to see this beautiful exhibition make sure you come along; featuring over 200 ancient and contemporary pounamu pieces and has been shown as far afield as France and China. This pounamu has travelled the world and is now back in Te Wai Pounamu – this is your last chance to see it.
