Julie McAndrew has an interest in custom vehicles, particularly cars and motorbikes.  She was drawn to the incredible airbrush art she saw on some of these vehicles so she undertook a beginners course 9 years ago.

Since then Julie has undertaken courses run by some of the world’s best airbrush artists – the late Mike Lavallee (Overhaulin, West Coast Choppers, Monster Garage),  Dru Blair (Overhaulin’, Skin Wars), Steve Gibson (American Chopper) and Jenn Mayberry.  She have also undertaken a custom paint course specialising in metallics, pearls, candies and other paint effects.   As a result, Julie's style of airbrushing can be described as ‘custom paint meets fine art’.

In addition to her love of airbrushing, Julie has always had an interest in horror movies, especially classic horror movies.  It’s the monsters and creatures in them which appeals to Julie and particularly the special effects created by the brilliant - Ray Harryhaussen (Clash of the Titans, Jason and the Argonauts etc) and the superb Rick Baker (The Exorcist, An American Werewolf in London, The Howling, The Wolfman, Malefient etc).  Julie also draws inspiration from the geniuses Gino Acevedo ( Alien 3, Wolf, Men in Black, Independence Day, Godzilla, King Kong, Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, and Planet of the Apes series etc), and Tim Gore (Jurassic Park, Fantastic 4, Van Helsing, Blade 2, X-men, Hansel & Gretel, and Hellboy 1 and 2 etc).

Julie has finally felt it’s time to share some of her paintings by having an exhibition titled ‘Not Enough Horror Stuff’, with a focus on classic horror movie monsters and creatures.  All artwork is airbrushed onto aluminium composite panels using Iwata airbrushes and either Createx, House of Kolor and/or DNA custom paints.
