JACK PANTHER
Brought up in the Wellington music scene, Tāmaki Makaurau based queer artist Jack Panther uses his craft to blend tones of melancholy with pop. Panther spent much of his youth with his headphones on, listening to Sky Ferreira and writing angsty poetry.

WEEKEND AT BERNIES comes through as an energetic, fun new era for Jack, describing the track as a break through. He explains the chorus just poured out of me so organically, I think we ended up using parts of my very first vocal take.”

In June, Jack released his sophomore EP ‘why don’t you come over?’. The lead single 'SKI LIFT 001' premiered on Rolling Stones Australia, who described the track as one of the most hard-hitting songs you’ll hear all year. When discussing the new alt-pop EP he says “it showcases such a different side to me, one that feels kind of badass. Throughout writing the project I was listening to such confident, self-assured music and it rubbed shoulders with me I guess. For the first time I feel empowered by my own music and I think that says a lot.”

It’s clear 2023 will see a big year for Panther, focused on returning to the studio before moving to London early next year.
