Shake your shamrock; Auckland's Irish Raceday party is returning to Ellerslie Racecourse - this year as the unofficial warm-up to St Patrick's Day.

Each year, Ellerslie Racecourse explodes in a sea of green when Auckland’s Irish contingent (and their friends) descend upon it for their annual raceday knees-up.

Apparently there are only two kinds of people in the world, the Irish and those who wish they were; so we’re calling on you to come channel your inner leprechauns for the return of what is undoubtedly New Zealand's biggest Irish party at the races .

The horses have already confirmed their attendance with the feature races, the Avondale Cup and Guineas, set to entertain.​

It’ll be an epic day out to be sure, to be sure.

General admission is free and gets you into the Irish Party area, however, private spaces and other ticket options are also available. Check the Ellerslie Racecourse website for more.

Ellerslie Racecourse is operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse. Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).
