Ipu are multi-purposed baskets woven with harakeke (flax) and are traditionally used for customary purposes such as containing the whenua (placenta) of a newborn, they are great for storage and the perfect alternative to gift wrapping.

During this workshop, you will weave both a base and a lid for your Ipu.

The workshop is designed for beginner weavers but some prior knowledge of the processes of weaving would be advantageous.

Tutors: Aroha & Sandra

All materials and tools will be provided.
