In today’s world, cities are a source of climate disaster and climate hope. Cities are big enough to make a difference but small enough for concerned citizens to have real influence.

Here in Ōtautahi, many people are working for change: riding their bikes, planting trees, shopping local, running sustainable businesses, lobbying city leaders. People are joining groups, and groups are talking to each other. But at times it can feel like city-scale climate action is stuck in traffic.

How do we turn people’s generalised disquiet about climate change into city-wide action that improves our lives and secures our future together? Where should we focus our effort? How are people in other cities joining forces to make their actions count?

Join us in the TSB Space, Level 1 of Turanga, to find out more. Hear from experts, passionate people and groups working in this area.

Speakers include:

Sacha McMeeking, (Ngāi Tahu), Associate Professor at the University of Canterbury
Katherine Peet, Network Waitangi Ōtautahi
Faumuina Felolini Maria Tafuna’i, poet and CEO/Founder of Flying Geese
Cally O’Neil, Te Reo O Ngā Tāngata/The People Speak
Joanna Santa Barbara, Co-Chair of Nelson Tasman Climate Forum
