Scholars Baroque Aotearoa Chamber Choir team up once again with NZBarok for their highly anticipated and much-loved annual performance of Handel’s Messiah. This year we have the pleasure of bringing the music that we love to Karangahake Gorge. As we rush about preparing for the busyness of the Christmas season, take a moment to be still and enjoy this seasonal favourite. Special guest conductor, Mr. Handel, returns to conduct a baroque-inspired performance featuring the period - 18th century instruments of NZBarok and a line up of international NZ soloists.
Soloists —
Jayne Tankersley (Soprano)
Kate Webber (Alto)
Jeandre LeRoux (Tenor)
James Harrison (Bass)
The following reviews are from a first time concert goer and someone very familiar with the work.
"That night, I learned so much about the range of sound the human voice could produce; from the earthy low notes to the angelic highs. The well-oiled choir sang together seamlessly, with harmonies so intricate I had chills."
Cayla-Fay 2020
"I have sung Messiah several times and heard it many more times before but never like that!!! It was absolutely brilliant. It has opened up a whole new perspective on the work. I have a new appreciation of what can be achieved."
Pam 2019
