Growing Opera Stars 2022

Join Festival Opera’s star-studded Magic Flute cast in a heart warming evening of solos, duets and trios.

Every season, Festival Opera leads relish the opportunity to perform alongside New Zealand’s rising young opera stars. During this time, artists work closely with students and graduates from Project Prima Volta - a weekly singing programme designed to engage, educate, and empower young people through singing. Building relationships with professionals enables students and grads of Project Prima Volta to witness excellence up-close, receiving valuable industry experience and mentorship along the way. Seeing is believing, and by seeing what's possible, our young participants are able to visualise their own potential!

Our Internationally acclaimed principal artists will be joined by rising young opera stars and Project Prima Volta Graduates Katherine Winitana, Emmanuel Fonoti-Fuimaono, Hannah Ashford-Beck (All NZ Opera Dame Malvina Major Studio Artists), Caitlin Roberts, Tomairangi Henare, LJ Crichton, Taylor Wallbank, Samuel McKeever, Lofi Lolohea and Vili Moore, Larissa Kent (NZ Opera Chorus) and Morgan King (New Zealand School of Music).
