Come along to a Fruit Tree Pruning Talk with Greg Quinn in a workshop held at our Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre workshop, which is located upstairs in the former Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.
In this seminar-style workshop, Greg Quinn of Home Orchard Care will explain the basics of fruit tree pruning and share some maintenance tips and tricks drawing from his wealth of knowledge pruning many of the fruit trees in Aotearoa, Australia and the United Kingdom.
There will be time for questions, where you can draw on some of Greg's knowledge.
This session is part of a series of Resourceful Kai workshops which seek to share and develop ancient and new skills for making the most of foods that are abundantly available, or can be locally and seasonally grown or foraged.
Minimum numbers are required for the class to run.
Gregory Quinn's working life has consisted predominantly of orchard work, learning the care and craft associated with growing fruit. He continues to work with people on their Home Orchard Care. His craft practice has developed in the last three years to include green woodworking, a change from the orchard yet an extension of his working closely with trees. Greg now makes greenwood furniture, rakes, pegs, food storage crates, brooms & other objects of use. The craft skills gained in working with experienced practitioners like Richard Hare, Alex Yerks and Juliet Arnott, combined with his own practice & exploration, have become an integral part of his life.
