Exhibiton: 'From Here' and 'The Front Steps Project'

Exhibiting at the Carlton Gallery until Sunday 17th July is a photo exhibition by local photographer Anna Menendez called ‘From Here’. The exhibition includes local images from Katikati and Waihi Beach, with beautifully accentuated features created using a variety of creative in-camera techniques.

Also screening Tuesday 5th - Saturday 9th and Tuesday 12th – Saturday 16th July, 10am-2pm, in the Junction Theatre, beside the Carlton Gallery is the ‘Front Steps Project’ by Anna.

During Level 3 and Level 2 Lockdown in 2020 Anna took part in an international photography movement called The Front Steps Project. Using a long lens, she cycled and walked the neighbourhood photographing people in their lockdown bubbles, providing the photos in return for a donation to the Katikati Foodbank. She then extended this project to local businesses as a way of helping to promote the #shoplocal message and raise awareness for local businesses. This project led to Anna being nominated as an Unsung Hero in the 2021 Festival of Arts.
