As part of Matariki 2022 Papakura Art Gallery is proud to present the work of photographers Ngahuia Harrison (Ngātiwai, Te Kapotai, Ngāti Pukenga, Pākehā) and Kellie Masiutama (Ngāpuhi).

Ngahuia Harrison’s series explores the impact, contradiction, and possibilities of ‘development’ within Whangārei Te Rerenga Paraoa (the Whangārei harbour).

Kellie Masiutama has produced a series of text and photographic work inspired by her journey through Hauora, the Māori philosophy of well-being. Te Ao Māori worldviews acknowledge the interconnectedness and interrelationship of all living and non-living things, where health is nurtured through spiritual, physical, emotional, and social balance.
