Hineawe is of Ngāti Porou descent and was raised in Tikitiki on the East Coast. She and her husband have six children and, so far, four mokopuna. She graduated from Victoria University’s Faculty of Law in 1997 and was admitted to the bar in 1999. Until recently, she has worked for a law firm in Porirua, specialising in property and estate law. Manaaki Legal is her response to being able to use her professional expertise to help people, while also being able to spend time with whānau and enjoy the things she loves.
