Deepen your understanding of Motivational Interviewing to further support your clients' personal motivation and commitment to a specific goal.
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a collaborative, goal-oriented style of communication with particular attention to the language of change. It is designed to strengthen personal motivation for, and commitment to, a specific goal, by eliciting and exploring the person’s own reasons for change within an atmosphere of acceptance and compassion.
Providing a more in-depth look into Motivational Interviewing Skills, this workshop is the next step for people who have already attended the 2-day Motivational Interviewing (MI) workshop and want to strengthen their existing skillset. The training is designed as a step-up to further develop participants’ skill and confidence in the practical application of MI.
In this workshop it will be assumed that participants are familiar with the spirit, processes, and skills of MI. The workshop will invite and challenge participants to look deeper, to use more complex reflections, to be more attuned and strategic in their evocation of, and responses to, change to talk and to reflect on their own practice. Experiential exercises, live demonstration, audio, video, and coaching will be used to develop participants MI skills and confidence.
Who should Attend? Those whose roles include:
- case workers, social workers, counsellors
- teachers, school counsellors, school leadership
- doctors, psychologists, psychiatrists, nurses
- youth workers, community mental health nurses
- corrections and youth justice workers

Those attending this workshop must have already attended the Motivational Interviewing two-days of training with Eileen Britt.
