Come along and learn how to carve your own spatula with Lily Duval in a workshop held at our Matatiki Toi Ora Arts Centre workshop, which is located upstairs in the former Boys’ High building at 28 Worcester Boulevard.
One-on-one adult supervision is required for this workshop.
This workshop is free/low-cost for Community Service Card holders, though donations are appreciated. The standard workshop price of $49 applies for those without cards. Please select the appropriate option at the bottom of the page
This 2-hour workshop is an opportunity for 6 young people per workshop to each come with an adult who will work closely with them, to carve a spoon from green timber.
Children will learn basic whittling techniques with a straight & curved whittling knives, and learn all about the ancient traditions of greenwood-working.
Children must be of an age where they can safely handle a whittling knife with your supervision, the image below shows the kinds of tools we’ll be using. Suitable for children 10 and over.
Each child must be with 1 adult with for close 1:1 supervision.
Minimum numbers are required for the class to run.
Bookings are non-refundable
A credit may be issued if you are unable to attend due to illness or COVID isolation and advise Rekindle as soon as possible, prior to your workshop. A transfer fee may apply.
Credits will not be issued with less than 24 hours notice given.
