To celebrate the Code Breakers exhibition opening, Otago Musuem is hosting a gamers' weekend you won't want to miss!

Step into the shoes of local Live Streamer, Taikawa Tamati-Elliffe, and watch him livestream on Twitch in our Planetarium between 10am and 12pm. Later, take a turn at the controls yourself and play with other members of the audience on the Planetarium's huge, curved screen, between 1pm and 3pm (controllers will be provided).

Dunedin's award-winning game developer and publisher, Runaway Play, will be onsite with virtual reality headsets loaded with their game Flutter VR. They'll also have their latest release for mobile, Old Friends Dog Game, available to play on the big screen in our Barclay Theatre.

Members of the Runaway team will be present on Saturday afternoon to discuss the exciting careers available in gaming, and one of them will be drawing a character LIVE in our Atrium between 10am and 12pm, then again from 1pm to 3pm.

To top off the experience, you can book your whānau in to have a go at decorating some Gaming Controller Cookies at 10.30am on Saturday and Sunday.

Otago Museum’s very own Steve and Ashley will also be here to show you how to create a cosplay arm bracer on Saturday, between 1pm and 4pm. There will be spot prizes over the weekend for the best cosplay outfit too, so make sure you come dressed in your finest.

But wait, there’s more!!

Otago Miniature Tacticians Society will be onsite with several games set up for people to try out, as well as miniatures used in the games to paint and take away for free.

Get a sneak preview of the Science Festival's NanoFest Virtual Reality Centre. Enter a virtual world of your own imagination and create art with a top-of-the-line VR Headset.

And to make an awesome weekend even more amazing, Megazone will be at Otago Museum with fun games and spot prizes! Weather permitting, they'll also bring along their portable Laser Tag and Billiards to set up on the Museum Reserve.

Don’t miss out on a weekend jam-packed with tech fun.
