Black & Gold - The Tauranga Big Band

The Tauranga Big Band returns to Addison Theatre to present their new show "Black & Gold".
One of NZs most highly acclaimed Big Bands, the Tauranga Big Band will blow you away with performances of a variety of Big Band classics from the great bands of Kenton, Basie, and Rich.
Tauranga Big Band will also treat listeners with a selection of new works for Big Band including the World Premier of a new work composed especially for this year's National Jazz Festival by Dr Ryan Blake.

Dr Blake's brand new composition incorporates Jazz with the powerful sounds of Taonga Puoro and captures the mana and retells the story of Te Pura, and how she came to be the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the Wairoa Marae.
