Hear leading New Zealand musicians in rarely performed ensemble versions of Franz Schubert’s Symphony No.5 in Bb major and Ludwig Van Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No.2 in Bb major. This concert features the exceptional piano skills of Xing Wang and a sixteen-piece chamber orchestra, directed by Peter Thomas. This is the first of five concerts featuring five amazing pianists playing all five Beethoven Piano Concerti.

Ms. Wang is one of New Zealand’s most sought-after pianists. As a soloist, Xing has collaborated with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Auckland Symphony Orchestra, NZSM Orchestra, Manawatu Sinfonia, and Tawa Symphony Orchestra. She has given solo recitals around the globe, including China, the USA, Spain, Italy, and New Zealand. Her performances were very well received and many of them were broadcasted by Radio New Zealand. Miss Wang is also a passionate chamber musician, she and her colleagues founded the Auckland Piano Trio, and her ensemble was part of the 2017 Chamber Music New Zealand Encompass Regional Tour series.

Xing has participated as a fellow performer and teaching assistant in various music festivals including the Bowdoin International Music Festival in Boston, the Valencia International Piano Academy in Spain, the Siena International Music Festival in Italy, and ASQ International Music Festival in Wellington.

Ms. Xing Wang was a prize winner of many competitions, her awards include the first place Mu Phi Epsilon Young Artist Competition (USA), the Sturm-Page Piano Competition (USA), the US Open Music Competition (USA), NZSM Concerto Competition (NZ), SIMF Concerto Competition (Italy), first prize of Schumann Cup Piano Competition (China); runner-up of Baisi Cup Piano Competition (China) and 4th place in the international Hong Kong Mozart Piano Competition.
