Kia ora, nau mai haere mai!

This 6 week course will teach you about the tikanga (protocols) around harvesting and care of harakeke (flax plants), and you will learn how to make some exciting basic weaving, for example, flax flowers, and other basic little things to start.

Our first trip will be to a local Pā Harakeke site in Dunedin. We will meet at the South Dunedin Community Network first.

Be sure to eat before you come, as there will be NO EATING or DRINKING while you mahi raranga. We will have a cup of tea set up in another area of the building.

PLEASE NOTE: there will be no class on 31 May.

If the class is full but you would like to be added to the waiting list, please email Nicola at dunedinwea@gmail.com

This course is kindly funded by Creative Communities and the Dunedin City Council.

Materials provided. All students agree to comply with DWEA terms and conditions, and to comply with any SDCN Covid policies if these are required at the time of this class.

The cost is $75 for the 6-week course. This is payable by credit card via Paypal or internet banking.
If you have a Community Services Card, the fee is reduced by 50% to $37.50. In this case, please email your name, address, phone number and email address to dunedinwea@gmail.com stating which course you want to enrol in. We will enrol you and then you can pay the discounted price by bank transfer. You will be required to bring your Community Services Card on the first day of class for verification.

Any queries please phone Nicola on 0223642793 or email dunedinwea@gmail.com.
