Are you a fan of Grand Designs? Interested in contemporary architecture? Learn more about this fascinating subject with architecture teacher Peetu.

Course description:
In this lecture series we will explore Contemporary Architecture tendencies by meeting the winners of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The Pritzker Architecture Prize was established in 1979 and it is often dubbed as “the Nobel Prize for Architects” because it is the highest honour, recognised internationally, that can be bestowed on an architect and their design. Together, we will take a look at the variety of designs, trends and tendencies of Contemporary Architecture developed over the years, while appreciating the complexity of the term “Contemporary” itself. Each week, Peetu will assign a small reading assignment each week as the basis for discussion in the following week's class.

Learning outcomes:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the term Contemporary in Architecture through discussions.
- Meet some of the recipients of the Pritzker Architecture Prize and discuss how these practitioners are challenging the conceptions of architecture.
- Analyze award-winning pieces of architecture and discuss the integration of ideas with design.
-Discuss the embodiment of societal values in architecture.

Our mission is to provide quality affordable and accessible lifelong learning opportunities for our community.
