As part of Matariki 2022 Papakura Art Gallery is proud to present the work of photographers Ngahuia Harrison (Ngātiwai, Te Kapotai, Ngāti Pukenga, Pākehā) and Kellie Masiutama (Ngāpuhi).

Harrison’s beautiful large-scale photographic works explore the impacts, contradictions, and possibilities of ‘development’ for hapū (subtribe) and iwi (tribe) within Whangārei Te Rerenga Paraoa (the Whangārei harbour).

While Masiutama’s text and image works are inspired by her journey into Hauora, the Māori philosophy of well-being.
