3D 2D is a collaborative exhibition between Loek Hasselman & Marilyn Lusk. On show in the beautiful main gallery of Creative Arts Napier, this exhibition will explore the 3D works of Loek Hasselman, and the 2D paintings of Marilyn Lusk.

3D 2D will have an opening on Friday the 21st of January, from 5 - 7pm. All welcome!

Marilyn Lusk is totally absorbed by colours, shapes and composition. Fascinated by the challenge of playing with these elements, "to get something that ‘works’, but more than ‘works’." Marilyn tells us.

Taking inspiration from the physical world, other Keirunga Artists, books, and artists from the past, Marilyn also tells us what is important in her professional life as an artist.. "life and figure drawing, the freedom of mixed media, a square frame, Resene test pots, my studio, family and friends who commission work".

Loek Hasselman has a history in painting, but lately has enjoyed sculpting oamaru stone.

"I enjoy the design part of sculpting, from the beginning you need to have a fairly good idea of which direction your sculpture is going to take. The design will often change along the way.

When I am working on a sculpture slowly chipping away, walking around it, touching the work observing all the time. Do the lines work, is it balanced, does it look right to the eye, keep pushing the envelope make every work a challenge.

The sculpture work looks great outside in the open, with the movement of the sun its aspect forever changing."
