There’ll be an afternoon concert with a difference at the Chanel Arts Centre on Sunday 12th September. The Chanel is used to hosting musicians from around New Zealand and from overseas, but this time its the turn of our up-and-coming young local musicians to play there.
The concert will commence at 2pm. The annual Youth Concert will feature a wealth of young talent, including pianists, guitarists, brass and string players, and singers. Their ages range from 6 to 19 years. Some of the musical pieces will have been written by the young composers themselves. One of the performing groups, the local singer/songwriter duo Pluto’s Eyes, has been writing and performing together for two years, playing at local concerts and festivals including Lunasa last summer. Last year’s Youth Concert was an enormous success and we just managed to squeeze everyone in! So come early to be sure of a seat. Entry is by koha at the door so tickets will not be available beforehand.
