The team at Mitchell Studios is excited to invite you to the opening preview event for our 2021 group exhibition, Wellington Suburban.
Located in Khandallah Village, we are very much a suburban art gallery, but have been lucky enough to build a diverse whanau of artists from throughout the wider Wellington region. Wellington Suburban gives over 40 of our artists a chance to display their different takes on what the theme of 'suburban' means to them - something many of us have reconnected with or gained new appreciation for over 2020/21. This will be a mixed media exhibition with participants working across a variety of disciplines from painting, drawing, photography and print-making, through to collage, ceramics, sculpture and weaving.
As with our Artistry group exhibition of 2020, Mitchell Studios would like to acknowledge and support the work of the Wellington Women’s Refuge and the Wellington Māori Women’s Refuge Te Whare Rokiroki by donating a percentage of gallery profits from Wellington Suburban to these organisations.
This will most likely be a Level 2 opening preview so will be a little different to our usual events. Level 2 restrictions mean we are only able to accommodate a maximum of 60 people in the gallery at any one time. To adhere to social distancing guidelines, all attendees must keep a safe distance (one metre) from people they don't know and are encouraged to wear face coverings. Unfortunately we are unable to serve beverages at Level 2.
In the hope of accommodating everyone, our opening will take place over 3 time slots:
5.30pm - 6.15pm
6.15pm - 7.00pm
7.00pm - 7.45pm
Tickets are free but do need to be booked through the Eventfinda website.
Wellington Suburban will run from Wednesday 13 October to Friday 5 November at Mitchell Studios, Khandallah Village.
