Wairarapa Community Orchestra welcomes you to join them at their Autumn concert All Sorts – their first at the Carterton Events Centre.
Under conductor Ruth Eckford and with members ranging in age from early teens to early 70, the 40 piece orchestra will entertain and delight you with a programme of All Sorts of music. There will be something for everyone, with a variety of music, ranging from a new composition to well-known tunes.
The orchestra is excited to be giving the first performance of Frog Farm Suite, a piece written for the orchestra by New Zealand composer Jonathan Berkahn while he was spending an Artist Residency at Frog Farm in Gladstone, the home of WCO bassoonist Belinda Carey, in November 2020. The residency was supported by NZ Pacific Studio. The programme will also feature a cello concerto by the pre-classical composer Georg Fonn (1717-1750), with soloist Caitlin Morris, and well-loved pieces such as Dvorak’s Slavonic Dance No.1 and Mussorgsky’s Great Gate of Kiev.
