Fresh on the art scene, this is Kim Cleverton’s first exhibition! She has a love for skies, clouds and colours so this, as her first exhibition, follows that pattern. Along with semi abstract landscapes in which she incorporates all three. Occasionally she has mixed things up with flowers and real abstract elements in her past work.
Kim began painting about 18 months ago. She had always wanted to paint, but life took over and it wasn’t until she retired that she had the time to indulge herself. She gives a special thanks to her local art teacher, Christine Lemin, who she believes got her going. To date, Kim’s artwork has sold internationally, to the USA and Canada.
Kim is originally from Melbourne but moved to Napier in 1977 after meeting her husband in London. She says that anyone who knows her knows that she is very much an Australian, but also says New Zealand has been very good to her and has a stronghold on her heart. She considers herself an “Aussie Kiwi.”
You may recognise Kim’s work as one of her pieces, "The Ice Palace" was selected for the CANdid-50 exhibition back in October 2020.
