Bringing together remembrance and hope for the future, giant knitted Poppy and Star artworks are being flown around New Zealand by volunteer pilots supporting the RSA, The Starship Foundation and NZ Warbirds charities in the lead up to ANZAC Day 2021. At each stop there is a fun welcome event for all the family, where local knitters and crafters add their contributions to the artworks.
Come along to the library to see the poppy and star artworks when the Poppy Flight visits Whangarei. There will be children's crafts and activities for ANZAC Day and the opportunity to learn about the charities the Poppy Flight is supporting.
Arrival in Whangarei
The flight arrives into Whangarei Airport at approx. 10.30 am from Kerikeri.
Pop along to airport and see Rusty Russell’s Gyrocopter 'Lemon' land to hand over the poppy and star artworks then follow them back to the library.
