Unfortunately due to the Covid Level restrictions, Whanganui Amdram has had to postpone their production of Phantom of the Opera until April 2022.

The length of time we are at Level 4 and the uncertainty of any future lowering of restrictions meant Amdram had to make this decision sooner rather than later. There are some elements of the show that can’t be worked on until Level 2 and the restrictions of performing during Level 2 are extremely prohibitive. Tickets sold already exceed permissible audience levels.

2022:
Thursday 14 April 8pm
Saturday 16 April 7:30pm
Sunday 17 April 2:30pm
Tuesday 19 to Saturday 23 April 7:30pm

The longest-running musical in Broadway history!

AMDRAM Theatre brings you, Andrew Lloyd Webbers The Phantom of the Opera

Based on the classic novel Le Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, The Phantom of the Opera tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. He falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine, and devotes himself to creating a new star by nurturing her extraordinary talents and by employing all of the devious methods at his command.

Deformed since birth and shamed by his physical appearance, the love he holds for his beautiful protegée Christine Daàe is so strong that even her heart can’t resist.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s mesmerising score including well-known songs such as; Music of the Night, All I Ask Of You, Masquerade and of course The Phantom of the Opera combine to bring this tragic love story to life.

Phantom won the 1986 Olivier and 1988 Tony Awards for Best Musical, with Michael Crawford taking home Best Actor in a Musical at both ceremonies. The show has played to over 140 million people in 35 countries in 166 cities around the world, winning over 70 major theatre awards.
