Essie Davis plays Bunny King, a mother of two with a sketchy past who works as a squeegee bandit washing windows at a traffic lights. Bunny uses her warmth and wit to charm money from gridlocked motorists, saving every cent to get custody of her children. When Bunny promises her daughter a birthday party, she finds herself struggling against the social services to keep her word. After Bunny is thrown out of her sister’s house, she is now with no money, no home and her niece Tonyah (Thomasin McKenzie) in tow. With no help from social services, Bunny must break the rules to deliver the birthday and rescue her niece.

The Justice of Bunny King is an upcoming New Zealand film written by Sophie Henderson (Human Traces, Baby Done) and directed by Gaysorn Thavat. Starring Essie Davis (Miss Fisher & the Crypt of Tears, Babyteeth), Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit, Leave No Trace), and Ryan O’Kane (Baby Done).

"It deserves to at least take its place next to Taika Waititi's Boy and The Hunt For The Wilderpeople – as well as Smash Palace and a few of its compatriots – as a film we will embrace and refer to, when we try to define who we are as a nation..." Graeme Tuckett -Stuff

"This film went straight for my heart" - NewsHub

"Beautifully compassionate" - NZ Herald

"Heartbreaking, honest and funny" - Dominion Post
