The Influence of Place

Wairarapa Word and Featherston Booktown present Wairarapa-based writers who have previously lived and written overseas. Madeleine Slavick (Hong Kong, USA), Catherine Cooper (Canada, Czech Republic, Sierra Leone), Lilla Csorgo (Canada, Hong Kong, Hungary), and moderator Steve Laurence (Almo’s Books) will discuss whether/how their writing is affected by place, landscape, language, and culture.

Panelists will read aloud two pieces of their writing – one that speaks to Wairarapa, and the other to elsewhere – and will discuss their multi-cultural identities here in Aotearoa.
