and The Importance of Small
is an exhibition that brings together stunning 3D images of plants, insects and spiders taken with the Scanning Electron Microscopes at the University of Canterbury. Selected from 1000’s of photographs, these incredible images will immerse you into a microscopic world.
When you explore these images with your 3D glasses and information catalogue you will discover amazing details about the fascinating hidden world of bugs. A large screen TV will have rotating 3D images of plants. Additional monitors will have a series of highly magnified images of everyday objects as you have never seen them before and a multi-choice quiz will test visitors. There is a remarkable display of historic microscopes from the Cotter Medical History Museum and a collection of microscopes that can be used in the Discovery Zone to take you further into microscopic worlds around us.
