Join Mayor John Leggett, MP Stuart Smith and their special guest the Irish Ambassador Peter Ryan for a glass of bubbles and a gala screening of “The Furthest Lantern”. This feature-length documentary by Marlborough filmmaker Paul Davidson tells the story of five Irish nuns who sailed to New Zealand in 1950 and established a new school in the baby-booming Hutt Valley. The nuns’ story is interweaved with entertaining tales of growing up in 50’s New Zealand and how communities have changed since those memorable post-war days.

Seventy years of history, laughter and tears plus beautiful poetry from acclaimed author Joy Cowley make this a heart-warming film - full of interest and surprises.

TICKETS VERY LIMITED (Covid Level 2).
