Gather for pre-supper drinks and enjoy the smooth sounds of Wellington band, Ida Lune, before tucking into gourmet fish and chips cooked to perfection on the spot. Ida Lune is made up of the incredible Anna Wooles, Deanne Krieg, and Rose Blake. Their three-part harmonies and interweaving melodies enhanced by layers of synths and strings are breath-taking, setting the mood for our celebration beautifully.
Paora Ammunsen (Ngāti Kahungunu/Rangitāne) will welcome us to the Opening Night of our Festival and bless our meal.
MC and Chair of Featherston Booktown, Peter Biggs will introduce our special guest speaker, New Zealand’s first Pasifika Poet Laureate (2017 -2019), Selina Tusitala Marsh, whose poetry and speaking style, accompanied by her distinctive ukulele playing, always breaks the usual boundaries. Selina’s name provides a clue to what lies in store – “Tusitala” is Tuvaluan for “storyteller”, so strap yourself in for a memorable evening of storytelling.
Combination Ticket - Purchase this ticket and Late Nite Lit: Show Ponies in the same transaction and you will receive a 15% discount at checkout.
Featherston Booktown is grateful to Creative New Zealand for supporting Friday night’s events.
