Harbour Sport is proud to announce that Dr Craig Harrison, internationally recognised expert in youth athlete development and host of the popular podcast “The Athlete Development Show", is presenting his talk - The Developing Athlete - to our community.

A thought-provoking evening with youth athlete development educator and coach, Dr Craig Harrison. A ‘must see’ for parents/caregivers with kids who love their sport, and professionals working with youth athletes.

In our hyper-competitive world of youth sport, great tension between winning and development is negatively affecting the young athlete experience. By simply having a better understanding of growth and development, there are many ways we can help our kids find joy, develop their potential and achieve more in the sports that they love.

Between the ages of 11 and 16 years, a unique stage in physical and psychological growth plays a crucial role in how a young athlete engages in sport. Drawing from the latest research on athlete development, Craig uses real-life stories to make this fascinating subject easy to understand with practical tips to help your child build resilience, prevent injury and become the best they can be in sport - and in life.

**Can't make it LIVE - no problem! The talk will be available online for 1-week following the presentation to access at your convenience**

About Craig:
Craig works with parents and coaches to develop more creative, confident and physically robust youth athletes. He holds a PhD in athlete development and supervisors a number of postgraduate students doing research at AUT University. Craig is married to ex-International Netball and Beach Volleyball player Anna Harrison and dad to Isaac, Georgia and Benjamin.

What people are saying about Craig's talk:
"We were fortunate to host Craig for two days at New Plymouth Boys' High School. During the evening he presented to over 100 parents in our community and it was exceptionally well-received by all. Craig comes with extensive knowledge and experience in the Youth Sport and Athlete Development space and provided a powerful, insightful and thought-provoking seminar to our parent community. We will certainly be getting him back early next year." - Matt Cleaver, Assistant Headmaster
