Let's be honest - starting and growing a business can be a tough old slog. Many business books, courses, gurus etc, will often try to make it sound easy (so long as you follow their system of course).

The reality is, there is no one size fits all approach. And yes, s..t does hit the fan (and can be demoralizing to clean up!).

Getting the help you need, when you most need it, can be expensive, and rarely comes with any guarantee. Sometimes you feel like you are struggling alone and have no one to turn to. Other times, you are not even sure of the questions to ask even if you did have someone.

We feel you! We have been there too. Which is why we decided to start The Business Clinic Wanaka.

The Clinic provides three key areas of support.

1) Training. Each month we will explore different topics to help you. These will include lean canvas, management models, marketing, getting the most from your website, finding more purpose and passion in your business, going carbon zero (without your bank going to zero), business automation, and a wide range of other topics. All presented in simple to understand, plain English.

2) Personalised Answers. Yes, training is good. But the harsh truth is, training alone does not cut the mustard. Each business is different; different industry, different budgets, different time in history, different in-house skills, different stages of development, different goals, different networks... you get the idea. At The Business Clinic, it is all about you. We show you how to apply the ideas to your business, and answer your questions, about your specific needs.

3) Networking. You may sometimes feel alone, but you are not alone. More importantly, it is important you don't try to do it alone. Not just because of the emotional strain this can cause (though this is reason alone), but because successful businesses rely on good networks. This is the foundation behind organizations such as the Chambers of Commerce and many expensive to join business breakfast groups. At The Clinic you will have the opportunity to meet other business owners, make new friends and grow that all-important network.

The best news is, you won't need to take a second mortgage to do it. The Business Clinic is our way of giving back (and creating an opportunity to meet you!). All we ask is Koha to help cover costs.

Our inaugural event is Thursday 17th June, so come and join us, and let's support each other in creating more effective businesses.

This event is brought to you by SESL (Social Enterprise Southern Lakes).

Your hosts/presenters:
Scott Stembridge

Scott is a local business and family man who was a co-owner of Kai cafe, is a founding member of Social Enterprise Southern Lakes (SESL), and provides business coaching to sustainably focused startups and micro-businesses. Leon Jay
