Sunday Concert Series – Cello & Piano Duo ”Song for Yoo” with James Yoo and Rosemary Song

Join us to embark on a journey through well-known and well-loved songs sung by cello and piano.  

The journey will begin with flamboyant and mighty Strauss Sonata, and you will witness the world premiere of the NZ composition, Four Preludes, composed by an acclaimed composer, Ben Hoadley.  

Immerse yourself with many other beautiful works by Schumann, Rachmaninov, Morricone and more.

About the Performers:
Rosemary Song (Piano)

Rosemary Song has been working as a piano accompanist in Sydney after completing a Bachelor/Master of Music in Piano Accompaniment at the Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney.

She was selected as a representative of the University of Sydney to study abroad at the Hochschüle für Musik, Freiburg in Germany where she received a Baden-Württemberg Stipendium scholarship.

After completing a Master of Teaching at the University of New England, Rosemary has recently moved to Auckland and works at ACG Parnell College as Music Specialist and performs at Music Festivals, fundraising concerts and recitals. 

James Yoo (Cello)

James Yoo was born in South Korea and he began playing the cello at the age of 7. He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium, the Musikhochschule in Cologne, and The University of Waikato. Former teachers include Maria Kliegel, James Tennant, Susan Blake and Thomas Tsai.

James regularly performs throughout New Zealand, Australia and Asia. Since the age of 16, he has been frequently invited to perform on Fine Music 102.5FM and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

James was a member of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra for 4 years.

He is Convenor of Classical Performance and teaches cello and chamber music at the School of Music, The University of Auckland.
