About this event:
Doors 6pm-Show 7pm. Please arrive before 7pm to be seated.
Big in music, small in the audience. San Fran Tiny Concerts showcase local artists in an intimate setting in a safe and comfortable environment.
Veteran Pōneke musician Darren Watson has had a three-decade-long journey from twitchy front-man for 80's pub favourites Chicago Smoke Shop to finding his own musical voice. With his musical roots deep in 20th century American music the Wellington native has worked tirelessly to become a writer and performer of original music that while steeped in blues, country, and soul could only really come from Aotearoa. From fun, stomping grooves to bone-chilling, pin-dropping feels you will be utterly transported.
Watson’s latest album Getting Sober For The End Of The World saw him nominated Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa |Best Folk Artist at the 2021 Aoteraoa Music Awards.
"So few notes. So much music." Nick Bollinger (RNZ)
"If Ry Cooder had a long-lost New Zealand cousin, it would be Darren Watson." Tami Neilson
"You're a mutha!" Rick Holmstrom (Mavis Staples)
"Uplifting, exhorting, beautiful, brilliant!" Blues Blast Magazine (USA)
