Royal Blue Children's Book Launch

What better place to have a book launch about a starfish than at New Brighton?

Brighton Art Gallery will be hosting the launch of Royal Blue, a children’s picture book with an environmental message, at the end of this month.

Royal Blue is a story of a little girl who rescues a starfish but must decide whether to keep or return it to the sea.

The book is a collaboration between author, Alyse Boaz and Brighton Gallery artist and art teacher, Robert Scanlan.

“By personalising the starfish, children are able to identify with these living organisms rather than just see them as objects they might collect,” says Alyse.

There has been considerable enthusiasm surrounding this project at the Gallery with members and those attending art classes, watching progress and providing input towards the final artwork.

Royal Blue is the first in a series of children’s picture books written by Alyse who has published educational resources.

The launch of Royal Blue will be held on Saturday, 28th August from 2-4pm at the Brighton Art Gallery. Members of the public are welcome to attend. There will be an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of the book and/or one of the original paintings.
